Lyncas is a Latin origin word that means lynx.
The lynx was named in honor of Lynceus, a hero of Greek mythology known for his exceptional eyesight.
They are felines slightly larger than the domestic cat and live in cold, mountainous regions of the Northern Hemisphere.
